The Center for Baby and Adult Hygiene Products (BAHP), a trade association for personal hygiene products, has launched www.DiaperAnswers.org, a website that provides science-based information on the health and safety of disposable diapers serving North American consumers. “We are pleased to launch this website as part of our ongoing efforts to provide parents and caregivers with credible and factual information about disposable diapers,” said BAHP executive director C. Tucker Helmes. “Visitors to the site will find information on disposable diaper safety, maintaining healthy baby skin, how disposable diapers are made, their impact on the environment and much more.” The information on the website is based on scientific reports and publications from sources such as EDANA, (the international association for nonwovens and related industries), the journal Pediatric Dermatology, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.K. Environmental Agency. The website comes on the heels of the recent rebranding of the trade association, formerly known as the Personal Absorbent Products Council (PAPC), as the Center for Baby and Adult Hygiene Products. The group now develops and provides information on scientific, regulatory and related issues that may impact health, safety and environmental aspects of the manufacture, use and disposal of consumer products, including disposable diapers, training pants, feminine hygiene products, adult incontinence products and wet wipes. “This is an exciting time for BAHP,” said Helmes. “Our new name and mission allows us to better position ourselves to share useful scientific and technical information about absorbent hygiene products, which we use in our daily lives, with other industry representatives, regulatory agencies and the public.” BAHP is an affiliate of the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA), a trade association representing specialty chemical manufacturers.
